JBS 5K Run / Walk – October 18, 2015 – What a Great Event!

The Shepperd Leadership Institute conducted its very first event for this week’s JBS 100th Birthday Celebrations in grand style. Approximately 50-60 participants lined up at the starting line to make their way around the UTPB campus perimeter trail. After several tries, JBS Executive Director Bob Brescia finally made the starter pistol work and they were off! Everyone finished the race, enjoyed some water and other refreshing drinks, and cooled down while visiting the brand new JBS exhibit. T-shirts were beautiful and the participants wore them with pride.

The youngest participant was 5-month old Hollis Rose Landgraf, shown here sporting her favorite race outfit with the JBS logo and her proud parents, Shelby and Brooks Landgraf. Both Shelby and Brooks are Shepperd Institute Advisory Council members and Brooks currently serves as Texas Representative for District 81.

We would like to thank the event sponsor, BlueCross BlueShield of Texas for enabling us to have this event. BCBSTX also attended with their wonderful volunteers from the Midland Blue Cross offices. JBS also thanks all of the many volunteers that set up the race and took care of the many details. From the UTPB athletics department to the YPO and from other organizations, these volunteers showed what service is all about!
